Michael Bacote

Obituary: On Thursday, January 11, 2018, Mr. Michael Lavon Bacote departed this life at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville, South Carolina. "Mike" as he was affectionately called by his family and friends was born August 16, 1960, in Darlington County, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Eugene and Seletha Dixon Bacote. He was educated in the public schools of Darlington County, South Carolina, graduating from Lamar High School, Class of 1978. He was employed with Lawson Farms for many years as well as with Clanton's. "Mike" has a divine passion for football. Watching his son and grandson was his pride and joy. He was a devoted fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the Lamar Silver Foxes. He was a big supporter of the Athletics Softball Team. In additional to his parents, he was also preceded in death by: one brother, Sampson Bacote. Those left to cherish the wonderful memories of Michael "Mike" Lavon Bacote are: three children, Jermaine (J'Nee) Lucas, Rolaine (Le'Vert) Robinson, and Michael Lucas; four siblings, Marie Bacote Burris, Eugene (Ruby) Bacote, James (Mary) Bacote, and Ronald (Vernette) Bacote; five grandchildren, Jac'Quez Lucas, Juelz Lucas, Ke'Shon Christian, Amerykal Lucas, and Ezekiel Lucas; four aunts, Louise Jackson, Nellie Evans, Bernice Trapp, and Promell Dixon; his children's mother, Elaine Lucas; a special niece and nephew, Debbie and Gregory Burris; and a host of nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly. Services: Funeral services for Michael "Mike" Bacote will be held 2:00pm Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Savannah Grove AME Church, Lamar, South Carolina, with burial to follow. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Mount Olive Word of Life Church, Hartsville, South Carolina.
