Obituary: Cheryl Miller, 51 of Newark, NJ, departed this life on Monday, February 13, 2017 after suffering with illness. Cheryl was the daughter of the late Brenda and James Doc Wheeler. Cheryl Miller attended and graduated from Lakewood High School in Newark, NJ. She later went to college. She moved to Columbia, SC where she began a new journey. She worked a few jobs, but started her career at USC where she loved her students, co-workers, and staff. She adored her job, but most importantly, she loved her football player. Cheryl's number one commitment and priority were always her grandchildren and family. She loved her cat (George), lottery, and music. Her personality lifted up any room she entered. Everyone appreciated her unabashed sense of confidence about herself. Cheryl is preceded in death by her father, Mr. James Doc Wheeler; mother, Brenda Wheeler; and her sister, Jamie Wheeler; and her very special friend, Mr. John Ashford. Cheryl leaves to cherish her memories one brother, James Banks; two sons, Darrean H. Miller, and Christopher Palmer, both of Columbia, SC; four daughters, Shaylonda Miller, Courtney Hightower, Tamika Robinson, and Christine Burton, all of Columbia, SC; twelve grandchildren, My Niqua Hampton, Jalyn Hightower, Ziare Diamond, Darrean Miller, Jr., Taishaun Edmonds, Ayiana Henery, Ronald Bennet, Marcus Thompson, Justice Thompson, MarViare Thompson, all of Columbia, SC; and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends whom will miss her dearly. She was something to everyone and everything to some. She will be greatly missed by all. Services: Funeral Services for Mrs. Cheryl Miller will be held 11:00 am Tuesday February 21, 2017 at the JP Holley Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday from 3-8pm at the JP Holley Funeral Home Columbia Chapel.
