Brenda Sample

Obituary: Brenda Sample, to whom God saw getting tired and a cure was not be. So he put his arms around her and whispered "Come to me" Surround by her loving family she gently enter into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Her life began on March 6, 1962 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Reggie and Edna Sample. Brenda was educated in the public school of Clarendon County, South Carolina. Her elementary years began at Spring Hill Elementary School, she then attended Summerton Middle school and finally Scotts Branch High School where she graduated as an honor student. She then attended and graduated from Midlands Technical College, where she received an Associate degree in Marketing. She was employed in Philadelphia for many years before returning home and worked in Retail before being employed with the V.V. Reid Elementary School and later the Boys & Girls Club of the Midland. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age. She became a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church Summerton, South Carolina. Later, after moving to Columbia, SC she became a member of Reid Chapel A.M.E. Church. She then move her membership to the Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church Hopkins, SC where she serve on the Usher Ministry. Brenda was preceded in death within one month by her daughter Chanel Denise Sample. Also, Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Reggie and Edna Sample, and Grandmother, Viola Mellerson. Her memories will live on in the hearts of her family to cherish those are her daughters Jometrius Renee Middleton, and Deseree Viola Whaley, both of Columbia, SC, sisters Carol Sample (Richard) Cunningham, Anita Hilton(Jimmy) Burgess both of Columbia , SC, brothers Reginald (Carrie) Sample, Miami FL. and Theodore(Brenda) Bailey, Delaware, and her newly and special son-in- law Trevor Middleton, three loving nieces who were like her daughters, LaTeesha Wilson, of Charlotte, NC, Taylor Cunningham and Ravyn Cunningham both of Columbia, SC, and her significant other Eugene Patterson and a host of nieces and nephews and other loving relatives and friends from New York, Connecticut, Virginia, Florida, Maryland, and North Carolina all of whom will miss Brenda dearly. Services: Service for Ms. Brenda Sample will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018, 12:00 noon at Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church in Hopkins. Interment will be in the Gates Of Heaven Cemetery. Ms. Sample will be placed in the church one hour prior for public viewing. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and the family will be receiving friends between 6:00-7:00 pm.
