William Wayne Smith

William Wayne Smith, 71, of Gaston, died Monday, September 14, 2020 alongside family. Mr. Smith was born in Lexington County on July 17, 1949, a son of the late Leonard Carol Smith, and Margie Sharpe Smith. Survivors include 1 daughter; Laura Ann Smith (Zachary) Castles and 2 granddaughters Nevaeh Faith Castles and Trinity Hope Castles; 1 grandson Jayden Lawrence Thompson; 4 brothers Leonard Carrol Smith Jr., Charles Stanley Smith, Billy Edward (Cheryl) Smith and Harvey O’Neal Smith, all of Gaston.  He was predeceased by his parents; Leonard Carrol Smith and Margie Smith of Gaston; 1 sister, Alice Faye Smith; 1 brother, Steve O’Neal Smith of Gaston; 1 grandson; Zachary Owen Castles, Jr. A memorial service will be announced at a later time after the virus is no longer a threat to any participants.  J.P. Holley Funeral Home will be handling the cremation service.
