Obituary: On Wednesday November 08, 2017 Benjamin Scott departed from this early life to get him much deserved rest. Benjamin succumbed to his illness in what has been described as of one the greatest battles ever witnessed. Benjamin "Poman" Scott was born December 7, 1946 in Gadsden, South Carolina to the late Corrine (Atkins) and Robert Scott Sr. In 1966 Benjamin made his move to Paterson, NJ. He was dedicated worker, husband and family man. He worked in the tool and dye industry. He was employed at Vivitone Chemicals for 27 years, holding various Positions. Benjamin had one of the kindest hearts any human could have. He was humble, he was giving and he was sincere. He enjoyed fishing and he would work on anything with four wheels and an engine. Family was important to him. "Going Home" to South Carolina was of his most favorite things to do. Benjamin spent 51 of his 70 years with his loving wife Rebecca (Mayrant) Scott. She was is name proudly. Benjamin was preceded in death by his father Robert Scott Sr.; Mother Corrine A Scott; Son John Gregory Mayrant; Sister Rachal Jackson and Brothers Robert Scott Jr. and Thomas Scott. Left to Cherish his memories are his wife Rebecca (Mayrant) Scott; Son Steven (Deborah) Mayrant both of Paterson NJ. Doris (Joseph) Laws of Irvington NJ; 6 grandchildren; 2 grand-god children; 7 great grandchildren; 3 great-god children; Sisters Jannie B Goodwin, Gadsden SC Elder Leah (Henry) Jackson and Dorothy (Willie) Sumter and Levola (Calep) Rainey all of Hopkins SC; Elder Lula LeGender of Patterson NJ, and Lucy Murray of Eastover SC; brothers Oliver (Eva) Scott and Theodore (Joann) Scott both of Gadsden SC. Honorary family members James and Patricia Cunningham of Patterson NJ. A host of nieces, nephews' family and friends. Services: Funeral Service for Mr. Benjamin Scott, will be held 2:00 pm Thursday Nov. 16, 2017 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Internment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mr. Scott will be placed in the church one hour prior for public viewing. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm, at the JP Holley Funeral Home- Columbia Chapel.
