Susan T. Billie

Obituary: Susan "Susie" Billie returned to her heavenly home on September 23, 2017 at the age of 72. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her during her illness and ultimately gave her peace. Susan was born to the late Arthur Lee and Blanche Teele on February 27, 1945 in Williamston, North Carolina. She graduated from North Carolina AT&T State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She relocated to Stamford Connecticut in 1971. She held various positions at Carpenter Steele, Bell Atlantic, and H&R Block. Susan was employed by Walter's Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church as the secretary for over 20 years which she enjoyed dearly. Susan married the love of her life David Billie in 1973. She moved to Bridgeport, CT in 1980, and was a faithful member of Walter's Memorial A.M.E. Zion church where she was very active and served in many capacities. Susan was a member of the Stewart Board, Deaconess Board, Pastor's Aid Society and Missionary Society. Susan leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 45+ years, David Billie; her sons Tyrone (Antonette) Teele and Tarik (Melanie) Billie of Bridgeport; her grandchildren Kiara Billie, Jaylin Billie, Kaela Teele, Lee Grisby and four great grandchildren all of Bridgeport; her brothers Robert and Albert Teele of New Jersey; her sisters Elsie and Janice Teele of Bridgeport and Betty Corey of Maryland. A host of nieces, nephews, 5 stepdaughters, godchildren and friends. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sister Linda Davis and brothers Bobby, Willie and Alton Teele. Services: Susan Billie, 72 entered eternal rest on Saturday, September 23, 2017 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2017 11:00 am at Antioch A.M.E. Zion Church (Eastover, SC). Public viewing will begin 10 am on Tuesday and Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
