Shirley F Irving

Obituary: Shirley Yvonne "Penny" Ferguson Irving was born on January 2, 1946 in Columbia, SC to Helen M Ferguson and George B Ferguson. She departed this life on Friday, August 26, 2016, at Lexington Medical Center, West Columbia, SC. Penny was a member of Rock Hill AME Church in Columbia, SC and upon moving to Sumter attended Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Booker T Washington High School (1964) and South Carolina State University (1968). She was the first speech pathologist for Sumter School District #2, where she served until her retirement. Penny was formerly married to Emanuel Irving and is survived by her son and daughter; Tracy Irving (Patricia) of Litchfield Park. AZ and Joetta Irving Talford (Matthew) of Rock Hill, SC; five grand children and two great-grand children Services: Service for Mrs. Shirley Ferguson "Penny" Irving, will be held 1:00 pm Saturday September 3, 2016 at Jerusalem Baptist Church (Hopkins, SC) with Internment to follow at the Rock Hill AME Church. Mrs. Irving will be placed in the church one hour prior for public viewing.
