Shawn Lonnel Massey

Obituary: Shawn Lonnel Massey, whom we affectionately called Che'co, passed peacefully form this life the evening of July 30, 2016. He was Surrounded and supported by his loving family and caregivers the last days if his life. Shawn was born in Queens, NY; but moved to SC as a small child. Shawn was educated in the public schools of St. Matthews, SC. He also attended Kerr Junior High in Del City OK and Midwest City High in Midwest City, OK where he was a star athlete in both football and basketball. He later attended Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College where studied the small engine trade. Shawn also worked for several years renovating homes and commercial buildings. In 1998, he became a father to his first son, Shamar Q Massey. Later he had a second son, J'dyn W.L. Massey who is now five years old. Shawn is survived by his parents; Mary Massey Rivers, and William Massey; sons; Shamar Massey, and J'dyn Massey, sisters; Jitaun Massey, Keana Davis, Mary Burns, Chevon Vaughn, LaTarsha Vaughn, brother; Clarmar(Joy) Rivers, and a host of loving family and friends whom will miss him dearly. Services: Service for Mr.. Shawn L. Massey, will be held 12:00 Sunday August 21, 2016 at the Christ is the Answer Seven Day Adventist Church (Orangeburg SC). Visitation will be held Saturday from 1:00pm to 8:00pm at the JP Holley Funeral Home St. Matthews Chapel.
