Sarah Richardson Canty

Obituary: Mrs. Sarah Richardson Canty, daughter of the late John and Lucinda Richardson was born in Clarendon County, South Carolina on January 22, 1917. She departed this life on Monday, June 18, 2018, at Lila Doyle Nursing Home in Seneca, South Carolina. She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County, South Carolina. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Henry Canty on August 20, 1939. To this union three sons were born; Henry Louise, James, William T. Sarah was an active member of Zion Hill A.M.E. Church until her health began to fail and she relocated to Seneca, South Carolina, to be near her son. Sarah was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; two sons, Louis and William; and eight (8) siblings. Mrs. Sarah Richardson Canty leaves to cherish her precious memory: her son, James (Gerl) Canty, of Seneca, SC; one daughter-in-law, Elayne Canty, of Lancaster, SC; eight (8) grandchildren, Dr. Trell Belk, of Columbia, SC, Eric (Lynn) Canty, of Hopkinton, MA, Tia (Toney) Wright, of Covington, GA, Kevin (Shantel) Canty, of North Richland Hills, TX, Teddy (Emma) Canty, of Belfast, Ireland, Tyler Canty, of Atlanta, GA, Brian Canty, and Taylor Canty, both of Lancaster, SC; nine great-grandchildren, Jalen Canty, of Lancaster, SC, Myles Canty, Devin Canty, Loryn Canty, all of Hopkinton, MA, JB Belk and Patrick Belk, both of Columbia, SC, Sophia Canty, Landon Canty, both of North Richland Hills, TX, and Thea Canty, of Belfast, Ireland; one goddaughter, Minnie Curry, of Cameron, SC; adopted daughter, Dot Campbell, of Seneca, SC; special longtime family friends/employer, Mr. and Mrs. Emory Clark, of Metamora, MI; a host of other loving relatives and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly. Services: Funeral services for Sarah Richardson Canty will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Zion Hill AME Church, Pinewood, South Carolina, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held Saturday prior to the service beginning at 11:30 a.m.
