Sandra Grant was born on January 12, 1934, in Orangeburg, SC. She attended Wilkinson High School and was a member of the cheerleading team. Sandra also attended South Carolina State College. After moving to New York City, Sandra worked various jobs and most notably became one the first black female New York City Parking Enforcement Officers. Sandra then began a long and successful career as a New York State Correctional Officer working in various Facilities including the Arthur Kill Women's Correctional Facility in Staten Island where she retired from after 21 years of dedicated service. Sandra passed away on November 20, 2024, peacefully at her home in Columbia, SC.
She is survived by a loving daughter Shaun Scott, grand-daughter, Jennifer Morgan, great-grandson Shaun Morgan. She was preceded by her Parents Isadore and Gertrude Glover, daughters Esther Scott and Valerie Love, husbands Lincoln Earl Scott and Eugene Grant, sister Alvarez Woods, Brother David Glover, sister Queen Esther Glover, sister Mary Lou Whiting, and brother Talmadge Glover. She leaves behind sister Getrude Wheeler, brother-in-Law Buddy Wheeler, nephew/son David Todd Toomer, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life for the family and a few close friends will be held on December 6, 2024, at the 1917 Club at Fort Jackson, Columbia, SC .
