Samuel Barton

Obituary: Mr. Samuel Barton, son of the late William Barton and Nellie L. Anderson Barton, was born on August 20, 1944 in Calhoun County, South Carolina. After an extended illness, he quietly went home to rest with the Lord on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at the Calhoun County Convalescent Center in St. Matthews, South Carolina. At an early age, Samuel joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He was a graduate of St. John High School in Cameron, South Carolina, and was employed as an electrician for many years. Samuel Barton leaves to cherish his precious memory: two daughters, Yezette M. Barton and Pamala Barton, both of Queens Village, NY; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Nathaniel Barton and Joey L. Johnson, both of St. Matthews, SC; one sister, Virginia Stroman, of Queens, NY; one aunt, Mabell Barton; a devoted caregiver and special friend, Vernell Shirer, of St. Matthews, SC; a host of other loving relatives and caring friends, all of whom will miss him dearly. Services: Funeral services for Mr. Samuel Barton will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Shiloh Baptist Church, St. Matthews, SC, with burial in the church cemetery. A visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the JP Holley Funeral Home, St. Matthews Chapel.
