Russell Grooms, Sr.

Obituary: Mr. Russell Grooms, Sr., affectionately known as "Big Russell" was born January 1, 1966, in Richland County, South Carolina. He was the beloved son of May Bell Grooms and the late John Seymour. He departed this life and peacefully entered into eternal life with the Lord on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, while at home. Russell was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina. He was a professional butcher and roofer. He was very sociable and loved his family. He was a hardworking father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was preceded in death by: his father, John Seymour; one brother, Eddie Lee Grooms Mr. Russell Grooms, Sr. leaves to cherish his precious memory: his two precious children, Jasmine Grooms, of Columbia, SC and Russell Grooms, Jr., of Jenkinsville, SC; his mother, May Bell Grooms, of Columbia, SC; four brothers, Ronald (Marcialette) Grooms, Sr., Gregory Grooms, Steve Grooms, and Micheal (Sabrina) Grooms, Sr. all of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Vickie Grooms (Timothy) Corley, of Columbia, SC and Sandra Grooms (John) Lee, of Charlotte, NC; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will miss him dearly. Services: Funeral services for Russell Grooms, Sr. will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at JP Holley Funeral Home, Columbia Chapel, with burial to follow in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
