Obituary: Mrs. RosaLee Davis Cannon Funney transitioned peacefully from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 14, 2015. She was 91 years old. RosaLee was born on August 5, 1923 in Hopkins, South Carolina to the late Pedler Shan Davis and Laura Davis Austin. RosaLee graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and Benedict College. She further matriculated at South Carolina State College and the University of South Carolina.RosaLee retired in 1985 from Williston School District 29 (Kelly Edwards Middle School) with many awards and recognition for her contribution to education. RosaLee served faithfully at Antioch Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir, pulpit aid club, missionary society and the women's auxiliary. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Stars Cleopatra, Chapter Order of Eastern Stars No. 240 and the Benedict College Senior Club. She spent her days after retirement providing sage advice to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading classic novels and her favorite book, the Bible. RosaLee was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son, Charles J. Cannon, Jr. (Lula). Those left to celebrate her life and emulate her journey are her devoted and beloved son, The Reverend Leroy Cannon (Helen); two granddaughters, Shawna Cannon Lemon, Ph.D., J.D. (Brian) and Kimberly M. Cannon; two grandsons, Gilliam L. Cannon and Charles T. Cannon; eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and other loving relatives and friends. A celebration of RosaLee's life will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 12 pm at Antioch Baptist Church in Columbia, SC. Services: will be held 12:00pm Tuesday Feb. 17, 2015 at Antioch Baptist Church with Internment to follow Wednesday in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 to 8:00pm.
