Robert Stedman Vines

Robert Stedman Vines, 40 years old, passed away on Tuesday, April 23 , 2024. He was born in Columbia, SC to Robert E Vines and Betsy (Brinkley Vines) Lohry. He is predeceased by his father Robert “Bobby” Vines, his grandparents Lee and Gloria Brinkley, Brodia and Dewdrop Muse, and Alvin Clarence Vines. He is survived by his mother and stepfather Bill and Betsy Lohry, his long term partner Molly McLaren and her son Logan McLaren; his siblings Brodia (Lisa) Vines, Sarah (Terry) Amos, and Josh Lohry; his nieces and nephew: Alieena Amos, Isis Duncan, Scotlyn Shealy, Ethan Shealy, and Lana Amos; many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Robert, or as those who called him Stedman, Steddy, Steady, left an impact on all who met him. If you knew him, he may have always had something in his hand, whether it be a cigarette, a drink, a gun or rifle, a golf club, or most often a fishing pole. He was most likely a friend to anyone he met, shared his opinion whether you wanted to hear it or not, and was quick to make  you laugh or smile. A protector of his close friends and family, who could call and depend on  him any time of day or night. You could always count on a good conversation, whether it be minutes or hours, about any topic. He loved to help you learn if it was something he had an understanding about, especially if it came to a hook on a line. He shared his passions of  hunting, golfing, and fishing with friends and family. He was a fierce defender of God and Country. The family will hold a visitation and a funeral service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on 1715 Bull  St. Columbia, SC 29201 on Saturday, May 11. The time is TBD. The family encourages all who want to attend may chat, grieve, and share stories.
