O'Connie served with distinction in the United States Army for over two decades. Their military career was a testament to their dedication and resilience. Upon retirement, O'Connie continued to embody the values of discipline and commitment that had defined their years of service. She is survived by he devoted husband, Jesse Patterson; their son Dhomynic Lightfoot and his wife Joycelyn; and their daughter Dheymetria Wilson and her husband Issaka Salifu. O'Connie also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Toresa Motley and her husband Gary, Whitney Shelby, Dhomynic Lightfoot Jr., Quaneshea Roberts, and Zuleyatu Salifu. Their legacy continues through four great-grandchildren: Myson Adams, Jada Adams, Jaden Faulkner, and Amir Smith. O'Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Audrey Thomas and Haldon Lightfoot, as well as their grandson Jalen Faulkner. Her favorite bible verse, Psalm 121: “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help.” The gospel song “You Brought the Sunshine” by The Clark Sisters would always make her sing. A celebration of life will occur at a later date.
