Michael "Mike" Gregory Davis

August 11, 1953 — March 7, 2025

A public visitation will be held from 4-6PM on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at JP Holley Funeral Home Southeast Chapel (8132 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, South Carolina 29209.)

Michael was born in the southern charm, coastal city of Savannah Georgia to the late Daniel and Daisy Davis, his parents on August 11. 1953 and passed away at home on March 7, 2025. He was blessed to grow up in a large extended family, but a close-knit nucleus family. The lord saw fit to give him 5 siblings, two brothers, Howard Davis, and Ronald Davis , and three sisters , Attlee Davis, Betty Davis. and Gloria Davis with all preceding him in death.  Michael was the youngest and all of his siblings preceded him in death. Michael received his formal education in the school system of Chatham County Public Schools, Savannah Georgia and graduated from Sol C. Johnson High School.    He was a great student who enjoyed learning and intellectual conversations.  Michael knew the lord and was baptized at Bulter Memorial Presbyterian Church, the family church, where his family attended while growing up in Savannah, Georgia. After graduating high school, he chose in time his life's career and attended Trucking School which afforded him a great, self-sufficient career as a self-employed Teamster with opportunities to travel the nation,  and meeting many people along the way, establishing lifelong friendships. A man of few public words at time in large groups, he was a deep thinker, caring, a big sincere heart, lots of jokes, loved hard and dedicated. He loved one-on-one conversation, a jokester and true friend wanting the best for those he loved and cared about. He was blessed with one son, his namesake Michael Odom, daughter-in-love, Trithenya Porterfield, Grandchildren: Shakeema, Marquese, Paris, and Bobby In addition, numerous nieces, nephews, and close extended family, fellow Teamsters, dedicated friendships and neighbors, having met people all across the United States of America due to his travels. Michael leaves a host of additional family across the United States to include aunts, uncles, sister-In-law,  cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephew fellow teamsters and coworkers, , neighbors and close/special friends he has known through the years, many of whom are here today. Even though his physical presence is no longer with us, the memories created together, and the connections of the heart gained will remain in our hearts for a lifetime and we thank God for allowing Michael Gregory Davis to cross our paths.
