Lemuel Daryl Larrymore

July 21, 1959 — December 1, 2022

Lemuel “Daryl” Larrymore was born on July 21, 1959, to the late Lemuel and Emma Julia Goodwine Larrymore. He went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia.

Daryl graduated from St. Matthews High School in 1977. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering technology from South Carolina State College (University) and completed post graduate studies in computer engineering at the University of Southern California.

In December 1981, he was commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army. His service took him to posts in this country and abroad. He served on the frontline as a Signal Corps Officer for the 1st Infantry Division during Operation Desert Storm. He received numerous awards and decorations, including the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and National Defense Service Medal, and ended his military career as a Major. He spent his civilian career as an Electrical Engineering Technologist for SC Electric & Gas (Dominion Energy). His professional mark is lasting, evidenced by the powerlines he designed throughout the company’s service area.

Daryl’s values were deeply rooted in his upbringing, farm life, and the integrity and compassion modeled by his parents. During his teens, he received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church. He was a trustee, then ordained as a deacon in August 2009. He served as the Chair of Deacons until his passing. Daryl loved God and the “church of Calvary.” This servant was relentless in glorifying God, honoring the church’s past, helping realize its mission, and ensuring its future was secure. His desire was the salvation of all.

He was a Vessels of Comfort Ministries Friend and a participant on God’s Prayer Line of First Presbyterian Church (Jamaica, NY) and a weekly bible study with his high school class. He was also a member of the Calhoun County NAACP.
