Kimberly Elista Davis Wright

Obituary: Kimberly Elista Davis Wright was born on November 18, 1960 in Newark, NJ to the late Harold Augustus Davis Sr., and Elista Mae Williams Davis. She was the second daughter and fourth of six children. At an early age her family moved to Marion, SC where she graduated from Marion High School in 1978. After high school, Kimberly attended South Carolina State University where she majored in English. In college, Kimberly met Barry Wright, whom she ultimately married, and from this union were born two sons, Dr. Barry Wright of Jacksonville, FL, and Cedric Wright of Columbia. She instilled within them the importance of education, family, and living a fulfilled life by putting God first. Kimberly was a resident of Columbia, SC for over twenty years. Prior to settling in Columbia, SC, she resided in Nuremburg, Germany, where she bore her second son, Cedric. Subsequently, she moved to Hinesville, Georgia where she served as an educator and a seamstress for the military soldiers at Fort Stewart, Georgia. While living in Hinesville, Ga. and Columbia, SC, she served as an educator in the Fort Stewart School System and Lexington/Richland 5 school district, respectively. In addition to these roles, she consistently molded her life in service to ministry. She served for many years as a coordinator and educator for the Georgia Missionary Baptist convention. She proctored various children's ministries over the years. Prior to passing, Kimberly dedicated her time as a volunteer at Palmetto Richland Memorial in Columbia, SC. Kimberly was a kind, gentle and loving mother whose greatest joy was the love she shared with her two sons. She was always available to lend a helping hand and especially loved to take care of her granddaughter, Carrenton, as well as her mother. She will be truly missed by her loved ones. Kimberly leaves to cherish her memory: two sons Dr. Barry Phillip Wright, Cedric Lorenzo (Rita) Wright, one granddaughter, Carrenton Wright of Columbia, SC, her mother Ms. Elista Mae Davis of Columbia, SC, her godmother Babara Jean Cody, Bethune, SC, four brothers, Michael Davis of Columbia, SC, Harold Davis Jr of Philadelphia, PA, Pastor Stephan (Patricia) Davis of Augusta, GA, and Gregory Davis of Los Angeles, CA, and one sister, Brigitte Davis (David) Toomer of Columbia, SC; two nephews, David Toomer of Charlotte, NC and Justin Toomer of Columbia; three nieces, Dr. Valerie Davis of Madison, WI, Stephanie Davis of Washington, DC, and Paige Davis of Huntsville, AL; one uncle, Elester Davis of Bronx, NY, one aunt Dr. Evelyn Graves of Philadelphia, and a plethora of family, friends and loved ones. Services: Service for Mrs. Kimberly Elista Davis Wright, will be held 1:00pm Saturday September 03, 2016 at The Brook Church. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Wright will be placed in the church one hour prior for public viewing. Visitation will be held Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 pm.
