Kathleen Dunbar Jones

Kathleen Dunbar-Jones, known to family as Kathy, passed away on May 25, 2026. Born August 27, 1947, she was a devoted mother and grandmother who cared deeply for her family, even when life was not always easy.

Kathy is survived by her three daughters: Stasie Dunbar (eldest), Dorothy Dunbar-Dickerson, and Kathleen Jones Jr. She was preceded in death by her daughter Stephanie Dunbar, who passed in 2018. She also leaves ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Kathy loved to dress and took pride in her appearance — she had her own distinctive style and did not try to be anyone else. She was warm and generous in many ways, though she was not without flaws; she could be blunt and stubborn at times, and family life included its share of disagreements. Still, her loyalty to those she loved was clear, and she showed up for them in the ways she knew how.

Her home was a place of gatherings, practical support, and familiar routines. She enjoyed family meals, watching the kids and grandkids, and being part of celebrations. She took pleasure in small comforts and in keeping family connections alive.

While Kathy was not perfect, she mattered greatly to those who knew her. Her family will remember her for her strength, her sense of style, and the role she played in their lives. May her spirit and soul find rest and peace.
