Julius Lamar Copeland

June 4, 1928 — February 21, 2020

Julius Lamar Copeland was born on June 4, 1928 in Richland, Georgia.  He was the son of the late Benton and Vera Williams Copeland.  He departed this earthly life Friday, February 21, 2020 at Columbia Veterans Affairs Health System in Columbia, South Carolina.

He was educated in the public schools in the State of Georgia.  At an early age he regularly attended church with his parents.  Later he joined Veighle Chapel Baptist Church where he received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He served faithfully as Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and choir member for over 40 years.  He joined the Temple of Yahshua where he was a faithful member until his passing.

He served in the United States Army for 22 years where he ranked as Sergeant First Class and served tours in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After he retired from the military as a war veteran he was employed at Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel in Columbia South Carolina for 19 years from where he retired. After retirement, he spent the majority of his time raising cattle and planting gardens. Julius was united in holy matrimony to Rosa Lee Metze for 65 years. To this union 8 children were born. He is preceded in death by his wife Rosa Lee Copeland, one son James Stubbs, one daughter Vera Vanessa Copeland; Three sisters: Bennie Mae Robinson, Juanita Dolce and Louise Kimbrough; Four brothers William Leon Lenwood and Hollis Copeland.

Julius Copeland leaves to cherish his precious memories: four daughters: Juanita (Lawrence) Moore, Debra (Apostle Johnny) Grant, Telisa (Pastor Melvin) Tapp, and Tamala (Daryl) Jackson; Three sons: Andrew Copeland, Julius Copeland, Jr. and Michael Copeland; One granddaughter reared in the home, Tomiko (Reginald) Lloyd; One daughter-in-law, Regina Copeland; Thirteen grandchildren; Sterling Copeland, Winifred Copeland, Taylor Copeland, Carson Copeland, Ebony Copeland, Whitney Copeland, Eric Grant, Nickie Grant, Hannah Jackson, Lonnie Jacobs, Douglas Moore, Angela Proileau, Morgan Tapp, and Cynarra Tweed; Five great-grandchildren; Kristian Bowser, Korian Brady, Erika Lloyd, Ollie Jacobs, Anaya Combee; Two sisters; Beverly Copeland and Winifred (John) Maye; Sisters-in-law; Della Ann Copeland and Laverne (Benny) Lewis; Brothers-in-law; Edward Metze, Harmon Metze and Roger Metze.  A host of nieces, nephews and cousins; his three nurses; Mildred Kraft, Kimberly Marcus and Jo Thompson.
