Obituary: Julia Mae Cornish was born December 26, 1946. she was the daughter of the late Mary Hopkins Wilson and John Cornish and was raised by the late Bertha (Charlie) Williams. She departed this life Monday, February 5, 2018 She was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina, and was a 1966 graduate of Webber School. At an early age she was baptized at St. Matthews Baptist Church. She later became a member of Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, by being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ according to Acts 2:38 on May 15, 2016. She was a faithful member, and also a member of the Women's Auxiliary. She was a very kind and dear person. Julia was the Historian of the family recording all births of the family and special events. She loved taking pictures of family members and keeping albums. Julia loved to read the newspaper and novels. Julia was preceded in death by Carrie Bell Jackson, Laura Bell Goodwin, and Ernest Lee Wilson, Sr. She leaves to cherish her many loving memories to her brothers, Willie (Louise) Wilson of Westminster, SC, Larry and John Cornish of Columbia, SC; a dear sister and caregiver, Brenda Williams of Eastover, SC; a loving sister, Darlene (Randy) Lane of Columbia, SC; special nieces, Kenya (Shamar) Washington of Martinez, GA and Kimberly N. Sumter of Columbia, SC; special nephews DeLonte Williams of Eastover, SC and Dominic Williams of Cross Lanes, WV; and a host of other family members and friends who will miss her dearly. Services: Funeral services for Julia Mae Cornish will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 12:00 noon at Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Hopkins, SC with burial to follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the J. P. Holley Funeral Home Chapel.
