Joseph Leverne Barwick,

Aged 76, passed away on July 13, 2026, in Sumter, SC. Born on May 26, 1950, Joseph was a lifelong resident of Sumter, where he was affectionately known to his family and friends as Bubba and to his beloved nieces and nephews as Uncle Bubba.

Joseph was a retired employee of Becton, Dickinson in Sumter, where he dedicated many years of service until his retirement.

Known for his kindness, Joseph was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He had a profound love for animals, enjoyed watching football games and the Gunsmoke TV show every day, and cherished his daily routine of enjoying a gas station drink while reading the newspaper.

He is survived by his sisters, Bonnie Davis and Maude Victoria Hall-Holbrook; his special niece and nephew, Devon Winslow and Ronnie Hall Jr., as well as many other nieces and nephews from his three sisters. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Berley Barwick and Edna Inez (Avins) Laws, and his sister, Peggy Avins.
