Obituary: Have you ever been in a house filled with laughter? Think about the warm feelings laughter brings, the way it brightens the moment, and the way it connects those who get to share the laugh with you. That is exactly what you got if you spent any time with Mr. John Starling (Sonny) Huston. Born on March 13, 1942, he was the first bundle of joy born to the late Johnnie and Pauline Huston. The big brother to his sister, Mrs. Ollie Eichelberger and Mr. David (Roberta) Huston, John made their upbringing and adventure. He was known for getting them in and out of trouble and then giggling about it all. John's legacy of laughter continued. As a young man with a jovial personality, he was able to attract the attention of the late Dorothy Richardson. He was also known for bringing laughter everywhere he went. These two were united in marriage and passed the gift of laughter to their three children, Mr. Elijah (Harriet) Huston, Andria (Edward) Harris, and Annette (Stanley) Robinson. John's legacy of laughter continued. His children gave him the blessings that delighted his heart the most, his five grandchildren, LaTosha Nowell, Marcus Harris, Eric Nowell, Daris Harris, and Joshua Harris. Knowing they would get many laughs while they were in his presence, John's grandchildren stuck closely to him. Whether stopping by for one of his good home cooked meals or just good conversation, they remain connected. Over the years, his grandchildren brought into his life four great-grandchildren. John's legacy of laughter continued. Not only was he known for laughs with his family, John kept his close friends laughing as well. Mr. Jonathan (Dooley) Eichelberger and Mr. William (Bill) Robinson were his laugh buddies. Whether sitting with him on his porch or in front of the television, they shared years of laughter. John was edcated in the public school system. He had various occupations. He was skilled at many things. However, his legacy was his laughter. On March 24, 2018, John's laughter on earth came to an end. However, the beauty of a legacy is that it is left for others to remember and for others to continue. He leaves this beauty to his siblings, his children, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, uncle, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. In the days ahead, we remember his legacy. When we gather together, we will continue to fill our homes with the treasure of what he taught us all- the beauty of a life filled with laughter. Services: Funeral services for Mr. John Starling Huston will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday at JP Holley Funeral Home, Columbia Chapel with burial to follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
