Obituary: On Wednesday June 2,2019 Janie Johnson Myles known to some mommy Myles was summoned from her earthly labors to her eternal rest. Janie was born in Richland County on September 4, 1934, as the daughter to the late Sam and Annis Johnson. Janie was baptized at an early age and was a faithful member of Shiloh A.M.E Church. Janie was a Christian whose light shined in the church and community. Janie joined the Women's Missionary Society in 1976. She served on the board, Church school teacher, President of the Women Missionary Society, Church School superintendent, Willing Worker's Club, Senior Choir, Pulpit Adie Club, Stewardess's Board, class leader, Evangelism Team, Shiloh Mass Choir, and Intercessory Prayer Team. She was a member of Emma Butler Tent #141, Torch Lighter of the Columbia Conference Women's Missionary Society. She has received many recognitions and awards in appreciation for her dedicated service, loyalty and commitment to the church and community. She was educated in the public schools of Richland county. After completion of high school she furthered her education by taking other classes in Nursing. She was employed as a mental Health Specialist with the Department of Mental Health for 17 years. Janie was a foster parent for over 33 years with the South Carolina Department of Social Services. As a foster mother, she has raised over fifteen children. She was a mentor for Webber Elementary School and spent countless hours mentoring to Children in need. Janie J Myles was proceeded in death by her husband Lewis Myles, Sr.; her parents; sister Ella Mae Ellison and brother Grant Johnson, Wiley Johnson and Heyward (Fair Brown) Johnson. Janie Leaves to cherish her precious memories, her daughters, Ida hightower, Wanda Reddick, Latonya Reddick, Angie Jacobs, Denise Jacobs Alexandira Battry and Kenyana B Myles all of Columbia SC; Two sister Annie Mae (Wesley) Washington of Columbia , SC; and Mattie Grooms of Eastover, SC; One brother Sam(Francis) Johnson of Swansea, SC; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, along with other loving relatives and caring friends. Services: Funeral services for Janie Myles will be held 1 pm Saturday July 6, 2019 at Shiloh A.M.E Church with Interment to follow at Shiloh A.M.E Cemetery.
