Georgette Butler, 64 years young, transitioned peacefully in her sleep on July 4, 2025, at home with her daughter, son-in-law, and 3 granddaughters by her side, in Columbia, South Carolina. She was born February 19, 1961, to Lydia M. Carter and the late George E. Butler.
Georgette was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. No matter where she traveled, she left her footprints. Those footprints live on in the hearts of the loved ones who cherish her unconditionally.
Georgette worked just shy of 20 years for Sunrise Assisted Living Facility, operating in many facets within the facility, from housekeeping to maintenance coordinator. When she wasn’t working her full-time job, she was a caregiver and companion for many of the elderly within the community.
She was preceded in death by her father, George E. Butler, and three brothers, Carl Butler, Rodell Downs, and Dallas Butler. She leaves a legacy of memories filled with love, laughter, faith, strength and resilience to her children, Khiyon D. Poole and Timeka J. Walker; son-in-law, John J. Walker; grandchildren, Avin A. Poole, Zhané J. Walker, Anjali J. Walker, Alijah D. Poole, Aiyden D. Poole, Makenzie J. Walker, Adam Delgado, and Andrea Mendez; mother, Lydia M. Carter; and siblings, Charles Butler, Carol Brown (Larry), Robert Butler (Joyce), Joyce Griffin, Lester Butler, Geraldine Poole (Richard), Sandra Butler, Kelvin Butler, Michael Butler (Rosita), and Wayne Brown (Faye).
Georgette embodied a spirit of joy and fun. She basked in the moments of family and friends filled with music, laughter, dancing, and a little liquid courage. If you wanted fashion tips, Georgette was the expert, from hair and nails to shoes and perfume. And don’t forget to accent your attire with jewelry. That was the finishing touch!
