It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of George Gregory "Greg" Ammer of West Columbia, SC on the 18th day of May, 2023 at the age of 74.
He will be remembered by his wife of 48 years, Dana; sons: Steven (Samantha), James Paul (Ashley), and Joseph (Jefferson); grandchildren: Kristen, Suzanna, Mason, Sonya, Ethan, and Scarlett; sister: Debbie (Larry) Kern and brother: Robert Amer. He was predeceased by his parents: George Albert Amer and Mida Madden Amer, brother Charles Amer and Sandra (Don) Lagaly.
Greg was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He served in the US Navy on the USS Yellowstone from 1969 - 1973. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served a two-year mission at the Bishop’s Storehouse. He also served in various leadership positions in the Boy Scouts of America Indian Waters Council as Scoutmaster and Commissioner for 20 years. Greg retired after working 36 years at Blanchard Machinery as a welder. After retirement, he was an integral part of establishing the family business of Half Moon Pottery & Ceramics where he happily worked behind the scenes and taught pottery wheel classes (10 years) and made many, many friends.
Thanks to everyone who offered prayers on behalf of Greg while he was sick. He will truly be missed by family, friends, former co-workers, and all of his students. He was a very humble man who never said a bad word about anyone and always had a smile on his face.
