Earl Barrett Kendrick

Earl Barrett Kendrick born September 29,1946 in Gastonia, NC and died February 6, 2023 in Columbia, SC. He was 76 years old. There will be a graveside service on March 31, 2023 at the Hollywood Cemetery, 600 N. Broad St. Gastonia, NC starting at 2:00. Barry Kendrick, as he was known by friends and family was a graduate of the University of South Carolina where he received his Master’s Degree in Mathematics and Psychology. He started his own business called Mathematics Tutoring and was a math tutor to many students in the Columbia area. He loved to help his students understand math by explaining ways to uncomplicate equations and tricks to memorize in order to master the subject. Whether it was Calculus or studying for the SAT’s he helped students in a relatable way that helped them excel. . His long time Best Friend, Miles Scott added that Barry loved cars and owned several A65 GTO Tri Power, 4 speed and a Ford Torino which he was very proud of. Barry was an avid reader; he loved biographies and political dramas and mysteries. His knowledge was abundant on any question you could ask him. As a result, he was a great conversationalist. Barry had a theory about Prime Numbers that he had hoped to publish in his own math book someday. He sat for hours with his calculators working endless math equations involving prime numbers. Barry will be missed by all his many students and friends in the Columbia area. Barry was love by his many cousins and they will miss him. There is Susan Brookey, Jamie Moss, Mike Gosey, David Miller, Dan Miller, Richard Gosey, Ron Gosey, Scott Gosey and Judy Layton. They reside in Gastonia, NC and he will be buried there, in the Hollywood Cemetery next to his Grandparents who were very special to him.
