Donald Gary Meetze, affectionately known as Donnie, Pastor Donnie, Daddy, Granddaddy, and Bop Bop went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose legacy will forever remain etched in the hearts of all who knew him. Preceding him in death were his father and mother (J.W. and Nita), brother (Johnny), son (David), and grandson (Nathan). He is survived by his wife Bonnie, daughters Marybeth (Chris) and Veronica (Justin), and his grandchildren Jordyn, Jamie, Alex, Cason, and Carter. Throughout Donnie’s life, the Biblical truth of Christ was instilled in him through his parents and their home church Fellowship Baptist Church in Lexington, SC. His life was significantly impacted and molded during his time at Fellowship, which ultimately led to his decision to devote his life to Christ and full-time ministry. Donnie faithfully served as Pastor for many years throughout Eastern and Western North Carolina, impacting the lives of countless individuals with his unwavering faith and dedication. His passion for spreading the Gospel extended beyond the pulpit and his desire to be the hands and feet of Jesus were evident in all he did. Donnie was passionate about spreading the Gospel both at home and overseas, his motto was always “Don’t Do Missions, Be Missions”. He served as a missionary to the Philippines, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Guatemala, Mexico, Romania, and Haiti. Through his work, Donnie touched the lives of people in need, spreading love, hope, and the message of Christ to communities across the globe. Mountain Heritage Missions was a ministry founded through a desire to meet the needs and show the love of Christ to the people of Tennessee and Virginia. He had a special love for the community and people of Blackwater and the memories and relationships built will surely last a lifetime. In addition to his ministry, Donnie was a skilled carpenter, crafting with his hands and bringing warmth to every home he touched. His love for bluegrass music was an integral part of who he was, and he often could be found enjoying the sweet sounds of the genre that brought him so much joy. Donnie’s heart for people was evident in all that he did. Whether it was through his ministry, his work, or his deep connections with family and friends, he made a difference in the lives of everyone around him. A man of integrity and strength, his faith in God was a constant guide, and he lived his life in a way that inspired others to follow in his footsteps. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and the love he shared with his family will continue to be a source of comfort and strength for years to come. Donnie’s children and grandchildren were his greatest pride, and his legacy will live on through them, as they carry forward the values, faith, and love he instilled in them. While Donnie will be deeply missed by all who knew him, we take solace in knowing that he is now in the presence of the Lord, where there is no more pain or suffering. His impact on this world, however, will never be forgotten.
"Well done, good and faithful servant."
