David Christopher Meetze, of Swansea, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025, at the age of 58, after a brave battle with cancer. Born on April 1, 1966, in Columbia, South Carolina, David's life was marked by kindness, humor, and a remarkable ability to bring people together. David was a proud graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1984, and went on to attend Newberry College. A lifelong learner and achiever, he earned the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout, embodying the values of dedication and service that remained with him throughout his life. Professionally, David spent nearly four decades as an HVAC technician, mastering his craft and earning a reputation for fixing nearly anything he set his hands to. Beyond his work, David was an extraordinary cook, delighting family and friends with his culinary creations—especially his legendary grits, which became a beloved tradition at gatherings. Those who knew him will forever cherish his infectious smile, quick wit, and unparalleled dad jokes that could light up any room. David's legacy lives on through his loving family, who were the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his children, Joshua Meetze, Kathryn (Edward) Williams, Darian Meetze, Megan (Justin) Rexrode, Dakota Meetze, Zachary (Kayla) Meetze, and Charity (Tristin) Still. He also leaves behind his siblings, Stephen (Lisa) Meetze, Thomas Doan, and Tammy Blaess, as well as his parents, Michael and Missy Blaess. David was a proud grandfather to Kaylee, Grayson, and
Caroline Williams and Rhea Brown. His nieces and nephews, whom he adored, will miss him dearly. David is reunited in heaven with his wife, Rachael Sharpe, and his cherished parents, Bennie Meetze and Miriam Dent. The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Prisma Health Richland, particularly the compassionate hospice nurses who ensured David's comfort and dignity in his final days.
