David L Johnson

David L. Johnson, 77, Sumter, SC passed away Thursday morning December 21, 2023 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia SC. David was born November 9, 1946 in Carthage NY, the son of Francis L. “Manny” and Marion (Barber) Johnson. A graduate of Carthage High School, he spent his younger years in Jefferson County, working various job such as Mallets Sheet Metal. He enjoyed carpentry and golfing, but mostly loved riding his Harley. In 2010 he married Caroline V. Schermerhorn and spent the next 13 years making memories. He is predeceased by both parents and his brother Ronnie Johnson and sister Debbie Delles. He is survived by his wife, Caroline, Sumter; SC., Children, Steacy (Robin) Johnson NY, Shannon Johnson, Missouri, Eric (Jennifer) Johnson Ny, Scott (Lynn ) Johnson Ny, as well as three step children, Cindy Fleming of NY, Skip, and Chris Fleming of NY, and three brothers, Milt (Bridgette) of Kentucky, Steve (Tracey) and Cliff (Ann) of SC, also a sister, Marcia Johnson of Florida. Several grandchildren, step-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews also survive. A celebration of life is yet to be determined.
