Coley M. Washington

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 12:00 Noon in Bethel AME Church. Interment will follow at Rock Hill AME Church Cemetery. A public visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 from 3:00pm - 7:00pm at JP Holley SE Garners Ferry Road Chapel.

Mrs. Coley B. Mack Washington, a true servant of God, a woman of faith, and a woman of character was born on September 26, 1918 in the Lykesland area of Columbia, South Carolina. She was the eleventh of fourteen children born of the union between Marshall Mack and Louisa Epps Mack. On October 5, 2022, Coley transitioned from death to life with Jesus at 2:15 p.m. in Fairburn, Georgia. She was 104 years old. Coley received her education experiences from Rosenwald Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School. Because of her quest for knowledge, she entered college as a wife and a working mother and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Allen University in 1955. Coley did advanced studies at Winthrop College, South Carolina State College, Benedict College, and the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Coley B. Mack Washington’s life journey ended on October 5, 2022 as she began her eternal walk with God. She was preceded in death by her parents, thirteen brothers and sisters and her loving and devoted husband, James Washington, Sr. She leaves to mourn her demise, yet rejoice in cherished and beautiful memories of her undying love for family: three devoted children: Donald (A. Shuanise) Washington of Mitchellville, Maryland; Jacqueline S. Washington of Fairburn, Georgia; and James (Dr. Gail) Washington, Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina; three loving grandchildren: Michael T. Washington and Chad J. Washington of Washington, D.C. and Angelica (Dr. Harrison) Washington Beasley of Mableton, Georgia; two great- grandsons: Miles W. Washington of Bowie, Maryland and Hunter J. Beasley of Mableton, Georgia; and a host of family and friends who will truly miss her.
