Clovis N Nurse

Obituary: On the morning of July 12, 2016, Clovis passed away peacefully. Clovis was being visited and comforted by family members and staff at the Pruitt Health Nursing Home in Barnwell, SC at the time of his passing. Clovis was 88 years old. Clovis (Train) Nurse was born on the island of Barbados, West Indies on July 9, 1928 to the late Newton and Clara Nurse. He received his education in Barbados, and in 1946 he emigrated to the United States. February 13, 1949 he entered into marriage to the late Leolin Smith. He was a very successful businessman starting is own business in the 1970's (Nurse Janitorial Services). He was truly loved by his clients. He later retired to Barnwell, SC in 1993. Having strong work ethics he gained employment with Generations Unlimited delivering meals to the elderly and disabled. Clovis believed in helping and caring for others an would give you the shirt off his back. He loved to read and spent many hours working in the yard. He is survived by Ursula Clarke. Eleven children James (Jennifer) Nurse, Patricia Nurse, Calvin Nurse, Clovis Nurse Jr., Ronald Nurse, Lenora (Jonathan) Joseph, Franklin (Janet) Oxford, Reynold Oxford (Wendy Singh), Stephen Yearwood, Patricia Sease (Steven Hargrove), Maureen (Danny) Parlor, 23 grandchildren, 18 great grand and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Services: Memorial Service for Mr. Clovis N. "Train" Nurse, will be held 3:00pm Saturday July 23, 2016 at the Greater Faith Ministires Barnwell SC.
