Claude Townsend Tompkins III, affectionately known as "Chip," passed away peacefully at his home on June 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
Chip was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose greatest joy in life was spending time with those he loved. He had a deep appreciation for rock 'n' roll music and could often be found enjoying his favorite songs. He loved cooking for family and friends, especially hosting cookouts that brought everyone together. In his quieter moments, he enjoyed watching Law & Order and never passed up an opportunity to enjoy a good Chinese buffet. His warm personality, sense of humor, and love for family will be remembered by all who knew him.
Chip is survived by his beloved wife, Crystal; his children, Dustin, Nikki, Sethlee, and Crystina; his sister, Jill; his niece, Jenny Leigh; his cherished grandchildren, Kole, Aubrey, Sierra, Laurna, Joseph, and Angelina; and his cousins, Laura, Vicky, and Jeanette.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Lucy Tompkins; his sister, Marina; and his nephew, Chad.
A Celebration of Life honoring Chip will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 146 Fame Lane, Orangeburg, SC. Family and friends are invited to attend an open house from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. to share memories, celebrate his life, and honor the legacy of love he leaves behind.
