Claude Arnold Hotchkiss, 62, of Columbia, died September 8, 2020, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital.

He was born on November 11, 1957, to Dr. Oscar Theodore Hotchkiss III and JoAnn Hotchkiss in Galveston, Texas.

Claude attended Texas A&M University and graduated in the class of 1979 with a Bachelor's of Science in Building Construction.

He married Linda Harrison and they started a family together in Dallas, Texas. There, they had two children, Daniel and David. The family later moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, and then finally to Columbia, South Carolina. He spent much of his career in construction, primarily working as a Project Manager overseeing expansion and construction of new retail locations for a number of companies including Zales Jewelers, Goody's Family Clothing, and Southland Log Homes. He retired from work in January 2020 and spent his free time befriending and helping his neighbors, which left a strong impression on the local community.

Claude is survived by his ex-wife and his two sons, as well as his brother Oscar Theodore (Ted) Hotchkiss IV, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Claude was cremated on September 13, 2020 at JP Holley Funeral Home & Crematory and his remains currently reside with his son.
