Obituary: Life Reflections On Wednesday, November 8, 2017, Clarence "Wink" Alston Sr. answered the call of our heavenly father. He was born April 16, 1956, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Johnny and Lannie Ceaser Alston. "Wink" as he was called by family and friends was educated in the public schools of Sumter County namely. Salvage Glover, Bates Middle School and graduating from Sumter High School in 1974. Clarence was an avid sports fan. While in school he played basketball and football. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Clarence was employed by Omni and Korn Industries. The memories of Clarence will forever be cherished by his son, Clarence Alston Jr. and daughter, Desiree Alston, both of Sumter, SC. He also leaves behind two brothers, James (Erma) Alston and Eddie (Dorothy Myers) Calvin both of Sumter, SC. four sisters Ruth Burgess of Columbia SC, Mary (Willie) Bradley; Arlene Witherspoon; and Carolyn Howard all of Sumter SC. four grandchildren Courtney Peterson, Dysheed Carter, Dytierria Carter and Josiah Alston; two great grandchildren, Serenity Woods and Marcel Woods Jr.; two aunts, Mary Rhodes of Sumter, SC and Harriet Wheeler of New York, best friend Frank Dwyer- Robinson and a host of family and friends who is sadden by his passing. In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by a brother Novell Alston and two nieces, Dorenthia Burgess and Jemyln Bradley. Services: Funeral services for Mr. Clarence "Wink" Alston Sr. will be held Wednesday November 15, 2017 at 12:00 pm at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, Sumter SC. Interment will follow in the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church Cemetery Alcolu, SC. Mr. Alston will be placed in the church 1 hour prior for public viewing. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:30-7:00 pm at the Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church.
