Christopher James Watkins

Obituary: Chris was well known in high school for his three times SC State Wrestling Championship with Lugoff-Elgin High School, and being the first state champion there.He enjoyed fishing, golfing, teaching his granddaughter how to ride her bike, and painting (birdhouses in particular). Chris passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2017. Born August 2, 1973 in Columbia, he was the son of Ethen Preston Lee Watkins Sr. and the late Daphyne Eunice Boswell Watkins. Preceding his death was his brothers, Nickolas Watkins and two infant brothers; grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Ephron Watkins, Mr. & Mrs. James T. Griggs; aunt, Zelda Griggs. Surviving are his father, Ethen Watkins (Judy); children, Christopher Renfroe (Angel) and Bryce Watkins; grandchildren, Isabella Renfroe and Ariel Renfroe; siblings, Robert Parnell, Terry Vann Schon, Belinda Watkins, Timmy Watkins, Ricky Watkins, Sheila Watkins, Teresa Fry, Preston Watkins, and Angela W. Wright; numerous, nieces and nephews; aunts, Paulette Watkins, Jenning Watkins, and Lorna May Watkins; uncles, Beler Boswell, Ricky and Mitchell Griggs, William Watkins; beloved friend Beaufort Derrick. Services: A Memorial to celebrate the life of Christopher James Watkins, 43, will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. at Lugoff-Elgin High School Gymnasium.
