Obituary: There's a path that leads to a turn in the road, and we each must travel there, Where the Father waits to take us home to the shelter of His care... Journey Home. The life of Chanel Denise Sample began on December 14, 1985, in Philadelphia, PA. She was the daughter of Brenda Sample and Tracy Brooks. She departed this life unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. She was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina. Her elementary years began at A. J. Lewis Greenview Elementary School, she then attended W. G. Sanders Middle School, and finally W. J. Kennan High School, but later received her GED from Continuing Education. She attended Midlands Technical College, where she received a Certificate in Manufacturing. She was employed with Shaw Industries in Irmo, South Carolina. Ms. Sample was preceded in death by: her grandparents, Reginald Sample and Edna Ballard Sample; and great-grandmother, Viola Mellerson. Ms. Chanel Denise Sample leaves behind to remember her wonderful smile and cherish her precious memory: her mother, Brenda Sample, of Columbia, SC; father, Tracy Brooks of Philadelphia, PA; two sisters, Jometrius Renee Whaley and Deseree Viola Whaley, both of Columbia, SC; one brother, Tracy Brooks, Jr, of Philadelphia, PA; two aunts, Carol Sample (Richard) Cunningham two Anita H. (Jimmy) Burgess, both of Columbia, SC; one two uncles, Reginald (Carrie) Sample, of Miami, FL and Theodore (Brenda) Bailey, of Delaware; six loving cousins who were like her sisters, LaTeesha Wilson, of Charlotte, NC, Taylor Cunningham, Ravyn Cunningham, both of Columbia, SC, Toni Sample, Casandra Sample, and Kim Sample, all of Miami, FL; one bestfriend, Devin Epps, of Columbia, SC; special grandparents, Joe (Edna M.) Whaley, Sr., of Columbia, SC; one dear family friend, Eugene Patterson; a host of other loving relatives and friends from New York, Connecticut, Virginia, and Miami, all of whom will miss Chanel dearly. Services: Service for Chanel Denise Sample will be held at 12 noon Saturday,January 20,2018 at JP Holley Funeral Home. A visitation will take place on Friday January 19,2018 from 4-8pm. the family will receive friends from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
