Caroline Pratt Tyler

Caroline was born on November 9, 1950, In Ft. Belvoir, VA and died December 31, 2022, from injuries caused by a fall.

As the only child of two unique personalities (Margaret Beecroft and Col. Edward Pratt), in addition to acquiring a great appreciation for antiques and books, she developed a bright, quirky personality. After graduation from Auburn Caroline moved to the west coast for several years. She returned to Florida in the 80’s until she decided to move to Atlanta to be closer to “family”.

Caroline loved BOOKS! Reading, crocheting, and movies were some of her favorite things. She also loved her pets – at one point she was the dog-mom of THREE Irish setters. Over the last several years she had cat fur-babies, the last being her favorite, “L’il Bit”. She also became quite interested in genealogy. (Her cousin David was a good mentor in that endeavor.) Often using genealogy as an excuse or the inspiration, she was also always up for a road trip and an adventure! A drive to DC was nothing and a trip to Upstate NY was pure joy for Caroline – and she usually made the trips alone staying with friends along the way. As the aforementioned only child, she always dreamed of being part of a close-knit family and while her marriage right out of college did not survive, her very close relationships with her in-laws did. Mom, Pop, and “sister” Beverly remained active in her life. She lost Mom and Pop in the last decade, but she and Bev were still close. In fact, she spent this past Christmas with her. Caroline’s other “chosen family” whom she thought of as niece and nephew are Faith and Greg Towner. Caroline referred to herself as Faith’s “Crazy Aunt” as she was growing up and when Caroline invited Greg to stay with her for several months before Faith joined him in Atlanta, she quickly adopted Greg, as well.

Her other key relationships were made at St. Matthews Church where she has been a member for over 15 years. She was especially appreciative of the love, support, and assistance her church friends, along with Mother Pat Miller, have provided in helping her to cope with the various trials of the last few years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Snellville, GA.

A service will be held February 4th at 11:00 AM at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church and can be streamed live online from their website.
