Benito Caraballo

Funeral Mass for Benito Caraballo will be held 11:30 Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at St. John Neuman Catholic Church with interment to follow at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. Public Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 1-6 pm at our Northeast Chapel.

Benito Caraballo Santiago, a resident of Swansea, SC passed away peacefully Monday morning,

September 25, 2023 at the age of 80. He was born in Yauco, Puerto Rico to the late Mercedes

and Ramona Caraballo Santiago on October 14, 1942.

His parents relocated the family to the Bronx, New York in 1954 in order to provide a better life and opportunities for the family. He was a father and mentor to all who crossed his path, not just his children. His home and arms were always open to all. He was a protector, provider and most of all loving, kind, caring, understanding, honest, selfless and loyal man. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather ,uncle, and friend. There are no words to express how deeply he will be missed by all the hearts he touched.

He served in the US Army active duty as a Private First Class from 1961 to 1963. During his

time of service, he was stationed in Hamilton, New York and deployed to Berlin, Germany. Then

served in the US Army reserves for several more years.

He was a handy man who could fix anything. He loved all sports especially baseball, his favorite

team was the New York Yankees, and his favorite Pitcher Shohei Ohtani. He loved spending

time outdoors fixing cars, coaching youth baseball, doing yard work and gardening. He also

treasured spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife Milka of forty-one years, his sons Benito Jr, Edward, Hector,

and his daughters Bernadette and Karen. His grandchildren David, Christopher, Matthew, Helen,

Jonathan, Yadiel, Ismael, and his great grandchildren Miloh and Maleah.

He was preceded in death by his son David, father Mercedes, mother Ramona, siblings,

Ramonita, Israel, Aida, Carmen, Victor, Hilda and Wilfredo.
