Apostle James Moses White, a devoted servant of God and passionate preacher of the gospel, transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on April 21, 2025, at Prisma Health in Columbia, South Carolina.
Born on June 9, 1952, in Rimini, South Carolina, he was the beloved son of the late George and Dorcus Green White. From a young age, Apostle White gave his life to Christ and committed himself wholly to spreading the Word of God—not only through his powerful preaching, but by living as a daily example of Christ’s love and compassion.
He was educated in the Sumter County school system and graduated from Manchester High School. Initially pursuing a career in acting, his path was divinely redirected to ministry, where he would find his life’s true calling. Apostle White’s teachings inspired many, and his faith-filled journey touched hearts across communities, bringing hope, healing, and encouragement to all who encountered him.
Apostle James Moses White was formerly married to Jennie Jackson White; together they raised three loving children who will continue to honor his legacy: Valarie (Kelly) Smith, Kerry White, and Nicole White, all of South Carolina. He is also survived by four devoted brothers: George White, Jr. of Virginia, Bishop Shedrick (Donna) White of Sumter, South Carolina, Reverend O'Neal White of Rimini, South Carolina and Reverend Kerry White of Sumter, South Carolina. Four cherished grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will deeply miss his wisdom, warmth, and unwavering faith.
Apostle White’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he impacted with his love for God and people. He fought the good fight, kept the faith, and has now received his crown of righteousness.
