A Stellar Community Servant
Serving her community as a Jehovah's Witnesses. Alourdes encouraged all to look to the bible for practical advice. She was known for her boldness when sharing the good news in train stations, Boston's Downtown Crossing, Porter Square station, Cambridge, Massachusetts. In Columbia, South Carolina she helped residents in her community through public witnessing and shared encouraging thoughts with letters and weekly telephone calls.
The Beautiful Green Thumb
At her home you can always find a green vine in her kitchen. When bloomed, the entrance to her South Carolina home is dressed with Blue, purple and white Hydrangeas.
A Lover of Animals
Alourdes loved animals. Throughout her life she owned rabbits, dogs, cats, and guinea pigs. She enjoyed giving them her attention. She shared her love of animals with her children and grandchildren. In her late days she was graced with granddog Sunny Sunshine, the Poodle, Great Granddog Athena the LabPit and Great Grandcats, Jasper and Mica.
The Songstress
If you had the opportunity to know Alourdes well, you know that one of her talents was lifting a tune with her melodious voice. She enjoyed singing her Kingdom Songs, especially her favorite, an original "I Won't Give Up". She also enjoyed Greek artist, Nana Mouskouri and Nemour Jean-Baptiste.
Alourdes Nazaire was born in Port au Prince, Haiti in 1939. She fell asleep in death at her home in Columbia, South Carolina on January 24, 2024.
She was the daughter of late Rosanna Saint Hubert & Ace Cius Louisdhon. Alourdes was the special niece to Hersulia Antoine. Alourdes was raised with her siblings Nicole Louisdhon, Marc Louisdhon, Eddie Louisdhon, Gerard Louisdhon. If you knew her personally she would tell stories of her doting dad, her dog Loukie and her trips to Laplaine.
She and her late husband, Christopher migrated to the United States in 1970 and settled in Spring Valley then Manhattan, New York. They eventually became United States Citizens. While in New York, along with her daughter P. Marie, Alourdes dedicated her life to serve as a Jehovah's Witness.
Alourdes and Christopher moved their large family to Massachusetts. This is where Alourdes became known for her public witnessing in Boston's Downtown Crossing and Porter Square Station in Cambridge. They raised their children instilling Bible principles, making progress, and reaching milestones. After Christopher's death in 1991, she adjusted as a widow, single mother and took over the helm of their taxi-delivery service business and their property while working at Beth Israel Hospital. Not too long after, at the urging of her son, Frantzi, Alourdes and her youngest daughter Karen moved to Columbia, South Carolina where she retired. She served in the Lower Richland Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Alourdes introduced her Southern friends to her native culture through Haitian meals, Kompa music, and French and Spanish songs. In addition to her door to door witnessing, her home hosted telephone calls and letter writing to her community. Always encouraging them with scriptures.
Special friendships with Walter & Cathy Lotts, Rebecca Roberts, Emily Ginardi, Lorraine Little, Ronnie Clowden and Chirlyn Wider always kept her going and challenged her to try new things. Lifelong friendships with the Moise Family, Suze Fenelon, LaGuerre family, and Ginny Brice were treasured.
Her hobbies included traveling, dancing, singing and being a virtual sleuth solving "who done its" with mystery series like Simon & Simon, Columbo, Baretta, Murder She Wrote, and Ironside, .
Alourdes treasured her family's growth to new generations. Special visits from her ten children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and pets were filled with laughter and comical shenanigans on video. She'd say, "Don't put that on Facebook" and "Gade sa timoun sa yo fe. Yo mete'm sou internet". The fond memories of her melodious voice singing the Haitian nursery song "Do Do Pitit" , Kingdom Songs, or favorites from Nana Mouskouri, Celia Cruz, and Nemour Jean-Baptiste will always be remembered.
