Obituary: Mr. Steve House was born July 14,1954 in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the son of the Late Edith Bell (David) Gillie and the late Sam House. Surrounded by his loving sisters, on April 21, 2018, Steve made his transition from labor to reward. Steve, affectionately known as "Lawyer" attended the public schools of Richland County. He was a 1972 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. Steve was baptized at an early age at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. He was employed by Piggly Wiggly Produce for many years, as well as Mike's Produce and Custom Roofing of South Carolina. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Edith Bell (David) Gillie and Sam House; sisters, Charlotte Mickens Green, Inez Gillie, and Vera Gillie; brothers, Sam House, Leroy Mickens, and Jimmy Simmons. Steve was a Loving and devoted son, brother, father and a great friend to anyone he came in contact with. Steve's loving memories shall forever be embedded in the hearts of his son, Antonio (Carmen) James, of Atlanta, Georgia; daughters, Coronda Davis and Tamara Gaines, both of Columbia, South Carolina; six grandchildren; sisters, Helen (Robert) Barnes, Bridgette (Frank) Johnson, Minister Kathy (Leslie) Arnold, Harriet Avon Gillie, and Christa Bell (Charles, Jr.) Patterson, all of Columbia, South Carolina; brothers, Ralph (Bettye) House, Kenneth (Frankie) House, Samuel (Ernestine) House, all of Columbia, South Carolina; one sister-in-law, Mary Ann House, of Columbia, South Carolina; one aunt, Alice (Willie) Scott, of Detroit, Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends that will miss him dearly. Services: Funeral services for Mr. Steve House will be Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the Brown Chapel AME Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the JP Holley Funeral Home, Garners Ferry Road Chapel.
