Elfredia Sims Tribute

Obituary: It was a beautiful summer day on August 15, 1929 when Elfredia Hayes Sims of Richland County, SC entered this world. She was born to the late Reverend Henry King Hayes and Ira Bell Patterson Hayes. Her mother died when she was a young girl leaving her in the care of her loving father and siblings. Her spiritual life and moral beliefs was instilled in her by her parents. She began her Christian journey at an early age when she was baptized at Capernaum Baptist Church. A devoted family woman, she was united in matrimonial bliss with her love, Eddie Lee Sims on May 18, 1959. In additionto loving her family she was very involved in her community. She founded "Fredia's Variety Store" as a means of keeping a close relationship with the community that she loved dearly. Throughout Elfredia's life she was a devoted wife and nurturing mother. She loved to have fun but her life was shaped from early teachings and experiences from her youth. She held strong Christian values and faith, the same values she worked hard to instill in her children and grandchildren. These same values she used to influence the lives of others. As a young girl she developed a strong love for the arts, gardening and cooking. She was known for not only her musical talents but strong passion for dance. A brilliant and educated woman, she taught each one of her daughters the importance of education and family. She wholeheartedly loved each one of her siblings. Living a wonderful and fulfilled life, she went home to be with her Heavenly Father on November 25, 2016. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Francis Hayes, Anna Belle Pringle, Wilhelmina Brown, Lucille Davis, Pearline Miller, James, Henry and Lincoln Hayes. Her husband of thirty-nine years, Eddie Lee Sims and two grandchildren Chantel and Jevonn Lawson. Left to cherish her memories she leaves behind four daughters: Edna S.
